Race results and series standings are now posted on the website. As usual, if you notice any ommisions or errors please contact me at rainman52@verizon.net. The Oxford Dam 10.5M Trail Race are being tabulated and will be posted as soon as they become available. Once again, many thanks to Rob MacDonald for his efforts in compiling the series results and standings.
Upcoming trail races include the Moose On The Loose 10M Trail Race in Nashua, NH August 23rd and the Thomas Chamberas 5-6K Trail Race in Carlisle, MA August 29th.
Race director John Grenier sends along these changes to the race course:
This year, I had to reroute sections and modified some others.
· The start and finish are now down below in the field. This dramatically changes the course and especially the finish which now includes a flat fire-road for the last quarter mile.
· I removed two places where the race crossed itself.
o In the first mile the route goes straight up to the top of the ridge and comes down a steep section before looping back up the ridge. This section was heavily forested and I had to reroute back onto a new fire-road.
o At mile 4, the race now goes through the model-plane airport before turning left UP the mid-state to the top of the gas-line where the route goes DOWN the very rocky gas-line to the bottom of the sand pit road. This eliminates the cross over at the bottom where people have gone the wrong way in the past.
· In Greenbriar, after visiting the 3rd water stop, the race passes the new French River Paddling access point and follows the trail OVER the new bridge at the Beaver Dam. The runner will get wet feet here if the water is high. This eliminates the poorly maintained trail around the pond.
· Near the end, at Mile 9, the race now goes Left around the sand pit and down a different section of the gas-line and thru another heavily forested section before heading to the finish.
Trail series race directors will have their entry fee waived if they let me know in advance that they are coming.
I will make every effort to start this race at 9AM and there will be a briefing at 8:45 at the start.
With apologies for my tardiness the results and series standings for the first races of the year are now posted. Rob MacDonald has taken on the task of calculating race results and compiling the series standings. This is an unenviable job but one that Rob has taken to very eagerly and quickly. Our thanks do not begin to express the extent of our gratitude. As was the case last year we ask participants to check the results and let us know when there has been an oversight or mistake. One problem we have found in the past is that a runner may be listed in the results in one race as 'James Smith' and in another as 'Jim Smith'. The program that combines race points to the series standings will recognize these entries as two separate individuals. Many runners will have a birthday during the course of the series and that may create a similar conflict. In the event a runner has a birthday that will change what age group they will be scored in their series points will count towards the age group in which they began the series. As applications for future races are sent to me they will be added to the applications page.
Here's to another great trail race season. Happy trails to all.
